The drive belt was slipping too much during Snowpoclypse, so I finally had to do something about it. I bought a new belt, since the old one just seemed to want to keep stretching. I had shimmed the motor up twice, but it kept loosening up, then slipping. It turned out that the new belt was 8" too long, so I had to re-use the old one along with a new 3/16" thick shim. It worked well, and bit right into the 14" of snow we got from the most recent storm. The old 67 Briggs 5 horse motor use some oil, but it keeps on running well. I am glad I had the old machine this winter, since I had used it on a 12", and a 14" storm so far. When you get that much, the 100 feet of sidewalk is usually close to 18" deep or more, it was over the top of the blower inlet this time around! Glad I didn't have to shovel all that!
