With Zidane still in a daze over Garland's words he continues onwards, leaving his allies behind regardless of their help, stepping forward to face one final gigantic foe and saved by Garnet he snaps out of his funk and quickly realises the error of his thinking.

After re-uniting with everyone at last the party strides forward ready to face Garland, however meeting an arena of lights a new puzzle stands before us.
