In 1989, the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province began the Franciscan Volunteer Ministry to provide a setting for lay volunteers to grow in faith, love, & hope by serving the poor and marginalized, and working for social justice through Franciscan ministries. Since then, hundreds of men and women have devoted a year of their lives to service, community living, and prayer in the Franciscan way of life. This year, three Franciscan Volunteers (FVMs) from Silver Spring, MD decided to share a little bit of what that's like.
