Sandaoling in China's Xinjiang Province provides the very last industrial steam show on Earth, with about six of the JS Class 2-8-2 locomotives handling coal from the opencast mine and two deep mines. The coal from the opencast is taken to either the unloading point or the washery, depending on specific needs. Here we see a train of standard side tippers unloading, one at a time, before the train is returned empty to the mine for its next load. A particular point of interest is the small semaphore signal on the brake cabin roof by which the train guard gives "stop" or "go" signals to the loco driver. We see this demonstrated clearly in this sequence. Filmed in December 2018.
