The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) lifted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 6:03 p.m. EST (11:03 p.m. GMT), February 11, 2015. DSCOVR should reach its final destination in about 110 days and will provide more reliable measurements of solar wind conditions and potentially harmful solar activity.
