Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Genoa, Marco Aime has conducted research in the Alps and in West Africa. His passion for traveling has led him to visit different corners of the world and, as often happens, stories from his travel later became books. For years he has dealt with issues related to the construction of identity that often lead to forms of exclusion and racism. He uses anthropology as a tool of cultural criticism not only against "other" populations but above all against our own society. In addition to numerous scientific articles he also wrote: "Excesses of Cultures", "The Missed Encounter", "Mirrors of Gulliver," "The Stain of the Race", "A Big Difference" and "Culture".

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
