Top Apps for iPhone - Traveling What is going on guys Apple Fox here and it’s summer, vacation time, everyone is travelling and we all take our mobile technology with us. So I thought to compile a little video in which I will be showing you guys the best apps for travelling. You’ll know some of the apps but you may not be familiar with all of them. Ok so the first app I want to talk about is of course maps. Doesn’t matter where you’re travelling, you need to have maps in your pocket all the time. You don’t really need to download any third party app from the App Store because you can use the stock Maps app from Apple but I’m not sure if this is the best thing to do. I’m a big fan of Apple and I like pretty much everything Apple related but when talking about maps I don’t see a reason not to give a chance to competitors. The biggest competitor of Apple is of course Google and even though with iOS 10 maps got redesigned and received additional functionality I would honestly recommend you to download and use Google Maps instead. To give you a quick example to explain why I rather chose Google over Apple, I need to show you this. So this is a Museum located in Berlin, this how you see it in Apple Maps. Everything appears to be fine, there’s also a nice park near the museum so great. But if you take a look at the same thing, at the same museum in Google Maps you may find out that there is even lake in the park. And there is another bigger park really close. There’s another lake in it. You can see all of the paths in the park, you can even see the bridge and this is extremely useful. So in case you were using Apple Maps at this certain time, you woudn’t have an idea about those places. I don’t want to hate on Apple or something I’m just saying it could be a lot better. But on the other side there are also some places where Apple Maps is better than Google Maps. Let’s move on to another app which is Uber. I’m sure everyone knows what it is, so I don’t want to bore you with some obvious facts but this is another must have app. Of course UBER doesn’t work everywhere but it’s available in most places in the US but also in the biggest cities in Europe, Asia and Africa. Another app for travelling is some kind of hotel booking app. It doesn’t matter that much which app you use, because many hotels work in collaboration with more than one app or portal for booking. So if you like Booking.com or Expedia or whatever you find useful, you can use it. So another really needed app for travelling. Also when you travel by plane don’t forget to download an app pertaining to your Airlines so you can check in in the app and have your boarding pass there. But again this is something you probably use. In case you’re travelling to country you don’t speak the language of you also need to download Google Translate that can really help you. Of course you can speak english in most of the hotels and tourist places but it’s great to have something to help you in places where it’s not possible. You can download a dictionary to use offline as well. So these were the apps that are great in every way but are also well known. Now let’s talk the apps not everyone knows about or just not everyone uses it when traveling. So everything depends on the place you travel to. But let’s say you’re traveling to London. In case you don’t live in the UK, you probably don’t know much about the British pounds and how many pounds converts to 1 Dollar or 1 Euro or whatever your currency is. For this you can use an app called XE Currency which is of course useful. Using this app you can easily convert currencies in real time so even if you pay using credit card it’s always great to know more about it. But what’s absolutely great about it is that it doesn’t require internet connection to use. Of course sometimes you need to use it with internet as well, to refresh the currencies so you can get more accurate numbers. Even though you have maps in your phone, you need to have internet connection to use it. You can of course find all of the stations of public transport in the classic maps app but it’s also great to have an app specified on the public transport system. And because we’re talking about London you can download an app like London Underground for free and there you can find all of the stations, you can even plan a route which is really useful. And also it works offline as well, so you don’t need to worry about it. In this app you can find only the map of London, but there are similar apps for any other big city. And the last one is first aid app. Hopefully you will not ever have to use it, but it’s better to have it downloaded. You can also find emergency numbers for different countries inside the app. So this is the end of this video I really hope you liked it.
