Many Gisborne and East Coast school students planted trees and shrubs to celebrate Arbor Day.The young conservationists helped enhance the new school campus with native plants. Arbor Day originated in a small Spanish village in 1905 as a festive occasion in the midst of the Napoleonic wars in Europe.
