Although many of us were born in an era with no mobile Internet, we adapt very quickly to its existence, and we can no longer abdicate its constant presence. This constant revolution brings us to a world in which even the vehicles can communicate and form a network between themselves, having internet access on the road in the same way as we have it at home. In the nearest future, we will see how this communication between vehicles could revolutionize our daily life
Since February 2004, Susana Sargento is an Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at the University of Aveiro. She is also a researcher in the Institute of Telecommunications, where she coordinates the Network Architectures and Protocols (NAP) Group. She has been involved in several national, transatlantic and European projects, taking leaderships of several activities in the projects, such as the QoS and ad-hoc networks integration activity in the FP6 IST-Daidalos Project. Her interests comprise the areas of new network architectures and protocols for the Future Internet, more specifically in vehicular communications, network and resources virtualization, cognitive and self-management networks.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
