This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. This talk is about the way regional journalism shapes the region itself and helps municipal politics to better communicate with people.

Since 1996, Patrik Pokorný has been working as a journalist. He started his career in the former regional newspaper Trnavské noviny. Later, he was responsible for changes significantly affecting the present-day regional journalism. Within the publishing house regionPress (issuing the well-known “mailbox newspaper” Malacko, Bratislavsko, etc.), he advanced creation of reporting pages which he also started to write. After leaving the company, Patrik Pokorný founded his own project “Trnava Dnes”, which he later sold and focused on online publishing. In 2010, he established the news portal Trnava-live.sk, which is currently the most often read source of up-to-date information about city’s events. He is married and has two children. In his free time, he engages himself in cycling.
