Have you heard this before, ‘We just want the best people’?  Maybe you’ve said it.  I know I’ve both heard it AND said it. So what gets in the way of getting the best people?  How come ~4% of venture capital investment goes to women? Do we really need inclusion riders or policies?  Let's explore getting out of our own way in the search of the best people - and turn this into an even bigger discussion.
 Vanessa Paesani launched Amplify East earlier this year because she knows there isn’t a supply problem of inspiring women in Atlantic Canada. Vanessa’s amplifying the stories of inspiring women because she believes diverse and visible role models are critical to the stories we tell ourselves about what's possible.

Vanessa’s had a wide-ranging career to date – she’s run a large music festival, sold technical equipment, and led a number of non-profits and initiatives focused on education and empowerment.

What all of her work has in common is building internal alignment to amplify results.

She’s proud to sit on the board of directors of Venture for Canada – a national organization accelerating entrepreneurship. She believes education leads to empowerment - the key to greater economic and social prosperity.
