Sawsan is a 29 year old mother from Haweeja who spends much of her time caring for her young child Mohammed who is unable to use his limbs. He is one of many children in Haweeja effected by the toxic legacy of the U.S. military's presence. This interview is conducted by the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq (OWFI) a pioneering national women's organization dedicated to rebuilding Iraq on the basis of secular democracy and human rights for all. Iraqis and U.S. military veterans are coming together to hold the U.S. government accountable for the lasting effects of war and to demand the right to heal.
