The talk, titled "What Comes Next? Challenges for the New President and the New Congress on a New Landscape," was presented at the USC Orange County Center in Irvine on Wednesday, January 28. Eight days after Barack Obama's historic inauguration, Schnur launched the 11th Annual Distinguished Speaker Series with this enlightening analysis of the economic and foreign policy challenges awaiting the United States' 44th president, including the hurdles he faces working with a new Congress. One of California's leading political and media strategists for years, Schnur worked on four presidential and three gubernatorial campaigns. He served as the national director of communications for Senator John McCain's 2000 presidential bid, and spent five years as chief media spokesman for California Governor Pete Wilson. As director of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC, Schnur motivates students to become politically active, and encourages political strategists and consultants to share their experience and expertise with students.
