Violent clashes break out in Kiev between police and ultranationalists

Dozens of protesters, mainly from far-right groups in Ukraine, turned out to accuse their government of co-operating with the Kremlin by allowing Timur Tumgoyev - who fought against Russian forces - to be sent to Moscow. Demonstrators blocked the entrance to the building of the prosecutor general's office with a rubbish bin and set it on fire (inset), and demanded the dismissal of his deputy, who signed permission to extradite Tumgoyev. They tried to storm the building using stones and pepper spray to get inside but were pushed back by Ukrainian riot police (left). Police said seven officers were injured.
