This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. While living/working in Mexico I survived a coordinated automatic gunfire attack by a suspected paramilitary group. In the months following the incident I began to ask myself - "What do you do after the bullets miss you?" My adventure began that day, and over the subsequent years of community leadership activities I learned through experience that when people realize the power of collaboration anything is possible. And when they don’t, all hell can break loose.

At the time of this talk's recording, I was with Winnipeg's Pitblado Law. I'm a nationally recognized leader in privacy, access to information & social media matters. My work is all about protecting people's rights and ensuring government bodies release information to the public to hold decision makers accountable. I also fight for children and their families who are victims of cyber-bullying.
