The Gaelic chorus of Cruscin Lan (My Little Full Jug)" means: Love of my heart, my little jug, Bring health, my darling.
The chorus written phonetically is as follows:
Oh, graw moh kree moh krooshkeen
Slawnta gal Mohvoorneen,
graw moh kree moh krooshkeen lawn, lawn lawn,
graw moh kree moh krooshkeen lawn
I learned it from the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem version (surprise, surprise!) including my attempt at pronouncing the chorus in Erse (Irish Gaelic). I loved the sentiment of the song. It brought to mind a strip cartoon (no pun intended) in the old Daily Mirror. The cartoon was called 'Jane' and was the adventures of a young lady who was always getting into some sort of trouble, usually involving losing most of her clothes! (It got a young man's hormones working as I recall). One of the characters who regularly appeared in the stories was an Irishman who wore a checked suit and a bowler hat. He always carried with him a round bottle of ale which never ran dry! Perhaps he had been adopted by King Bacchus!
