My summer break is almost over, as my school starts back up tomorrow. It sucks. So you know what this means: tonight, I will stay up as late as possible to wear myself out for tomorrow. Because I don't give 1, 2, 3, or even 20 fucks about school! On the bright side, I have an early woodshop class. And those who take classes early get to leave earlier. I'll be getting home before my sister does, so on Wednesdays when her appointments take place, I may get to continue going to Staples Mill Road Station to railfan! Tonight, I vow to stay up late. Before summer ends, I need to make a compilation of the best trains I saw this summer starting from the first day all the way toward the end in chronological order.
Trains in order:
1. CSX Q743 at Elmont with an SD70MAC leader
The first train of the summer that I would consider a best catch is the southbound juice train with a 70MAC leading. The SD70MACs are fairly common, but they're awesome to see leading when you need a break from GEVOs! And the SD70MAC was on the engineer side this time with a nice K5LA!

2. CSX 3099
Welp, it would have been the good meet if it weren't blocked. I just rarely see spirit units anymore, even if they are trailing. In fact, 3099 is only the second spirit unit I caught leading. I caught it, even though that Q410 just had to get in my way. When I look back on this catch, I think that I should have just raced it down to Hunton for a better shot since it was going really slow.

3. CSX Q034 in Ashland
This is the CSX train William Crew and I caught that day. Technically it's not that special, but I was very interested in the fact that there was no RF&P on that train! The YN3 AC4400CW leads an ex-Conrail Dash 8 and a GEVO!

4. Amtrak Big Game train
I've wanted to see Amtrak 189 for a while and it finally happened! I'm a fan of that Amtrak engine!

5. CSX local in Brownsburg, IN
Gotta love seeing those Geeps work hard on these types of trains! Plus I hardly see Road Slugs leading! They're some really cool engines! Nice K5LA too! Not to mention, a good filming spot!

6. CSX Q300 at Staples Mill Road
Another SD70MAC leading. It has a big logo this time! And a GEVO trailing! Just wish I caught a hornshow from it, I know that #4706 has a fouled up K5LA that now sounds really weird :/

7. CSX coal drag with 2 AC4400CWs
I was happy to see a YN2 AC4400CW leading once again! At this point (as I type this), I have seen less than 10 YN2 AC4400CWs leading actual trains in the year 2015. I was just glad to use a cool YN2 loco as a leader.

8. CSX stack train in Folkston
Now this used me an even bigger break! A pair of YN2 Dash 8s leading an intermodal! A good use of their awesome K5LA is what is here! It really is a treat to see the C40-8Ws leading, although the C40-8s would be better to lead.

9. CSX goods train in Folkston
Why do I add this? YN3 C40-8W leading! Haven't caught any leading that are not ex-Conrail until that point! Better yet, it had quadruple 7s! #7777! I also caught my first CSX SD70M, which was 4th out in that consist and was trailing.

10. CSX Q740 with SD70ACe leader
Awesome! An SD70ACe on the juice train! Those are nice to see! I got a lot of K5LLA from it and I caught it on the conductor's side too! Also it was nice to see an ACe leading a GEVO!

11. CSX Q438 at Staples Mill Road Station
SD70MAC leader! I still love seeing them in the lead! Especially like this when they lead newer GEVOs! I like the consist as well! They also put on a very good K5LA hornshow when they rolled by!

12. NS local at Belle Isle
Nice to see an NS local there once again. Can't argue with that old school power!

13. Western Maryland 734
Aw yes! The good old WM steam engine running! Steam engine! Need I say more?

14. NS intermodal at Homestead
I've been wanting to catch an NS SD70ACe at the crossing for a while and there it finally happened! Awesome leader and awesome K5LLA! Yes I did it! There was an ex-UP SD9043MAC trailing, so that really spiced up the catch!

15. CSX SD50s
I rarely ever see CSX SD50-2s leading trains! That one had a good K5LA and engineer!

16. CSX oil train
YN2 AC4400CW leads! I got another, hooray! This one surprisingly had a K5H! There I was happy to see the BNSF GEVO on the lashup, but glad it wasn't leading there!

17. CSX gondola train/intermodal meet
The gondola train was okay since it had an older AC4400CW leading, but I already caught that AC44 leading before, so I prefer the Dash 9 to lead. Plus the CSX YN3 isn't the best scheme IMO. But the intermodal rocked because I got another YN2 AC4400CW leader!

18. NS hopper train
I love those NS locals! All old power and a caboose! This was a very new location to see it as well. The 3rd engine had the OLS scheme! Don't see that everyday!

19. Amtrak meet
I wouldn't include this normally, but the fact that one train had heritage unit 156 leading, yes! Cool!
