Cannonball Run was one of the most influential movies of all time, reinvigorating both the great American road race, and the art of slutting your way out of speeding tickets. Now its influence is thundering into Austin: Rental Car Rally.

Arriving in Texas at the end of the summer after events in Cali and NY, RCR is an all-night Run where costumed teams mad-dash from ATX to New Orleans, stopping along the way at storied swimming holes, abandoned theme parks, and haunted farmsteads, which is where they actually grow Boo Berries. Despite the title, you're allowed to use your own gas-guzzler/silent-but-deadly hybrid; you'll also be handed a saboteur's arsenal (bottle rockets, smoke bombs, grease, toilet paper), and you'll engage in auxiliary tomfoolery like shopping cart races and paintball assaults (blast the Rasta spectrum and they'll call you Ben Jammin' Moore). Tickets are sold by-the-vehicle, with packages ranging from the basic "Wheelman" complete with the previously mentioned mischief inventory, to the Death Race-inspired "Joe Viterbo" (steak dinner, posh hotel suite with in-room stripper), to the "Jason Statham", a kingly set-up that supposedly includes a shot of human adrenaline and the use of CB Run's "Captain Chaos", though having to lug around an overweight dead man might cancel out the adrenaline.

For prizes, they're dishing out cash ($500 in nickels!) and Golden Gas Pumps for the teams with the lowest odometer readings and most creative costumes -- the slow unzipping of which should take care of any problems you encounter along the way.
