I discover the beautiful jazz standard Sometime Ago and start improvising on it. Tonight was the first time I started learning this song. This is only the beginning of my enjoyment of practicing and performing this wonderful tune! After practicing it and performing it for a few months I will start to develop my own way of playing it. At this point I am just improvising around the main melody and standard chords, and having fun. I love the melody and chords in this song. I recommend checking out some other musicians' recordings of it after watching my video!! =)

This recording is of a "performance" (rather than a practice) because I am listening closely to how I am playing and thinking of how the audience would react to what I am doing. There are some times in the performance where I did something I didn't expect myself to do, but instead of considering it a mistake, I thought "on my feet" of how I could turn my unexpectedness into an interesting musical idea. That is one of the keys, I think, to a good performer who can turn what might be a mistake into something that is even more interesting than a performance with no surprises.
