Kernan Clusterf*ck on New Year's Day 2015

An eastbound hotshot experienced a problem just east of the Kernan crossovers. When that happened, 2 more EB hotshots, including the ever so hot North Bay one were approaching on both tracks. The closest place either could cross over at the point was Kernan. Only, one slight problem. The WB 102 local was also approaching Kernan on the number one track. So after much discussion on the radio, it was decided the 102 would crossover to the number 2 track in front of the North Bay, let the first hotshot that was on the number 1 track to go straight through, then 102 would back up from Main 2 to Main 1, and then proceed westward straight through on Main 1. After he cleared, the North Bay went through crossing over from 2 to 1. John and I spent a little time in Streator afterwards and then on the way back, we could see that the train sitting on 2 got its problem solved and was on its way. We didn't get a video of it because we were too far away for that.
