We’re doing relatively well in the penultimate level of the game in part because I know of the critical locations to defend. The A.I likes to take certain paths when attacking your territories and it’s often the quickest route, meaning that you can part your defensive units there and know that they’ll send their units right into your line of fire. Infantry can still be rather sneaky with their pathfinding however as they can and often do use the water as a shortcut, making a strong case for having at least one turret protecting your territories. Naturally, a human opponent would be far more difficult to predict, though there’ll always be only so many ways that vehicles can get to your territories.

The penultimate level is a difficult challenge but it’s nothing compared to the final level of the game, level 20. Your opponent has many advantages over you from the very beginning and it’s one of the largest maps with sixteen territories. The avenues of attack are many for your territories but few for attacking your opponent’s holdings, another feather to their already feather-laden cap. The large map means that it takes a while for your units to reach the important defensive positions and the unit deficit you start with means that you’ll be fighting long and hard to level the playing field… if you can.
