In-form Warrington Wolves overwhelmed Crusaders to keep their grip on the Engage Super League leadership in Wrexham. The Wolves have been in red-hot form of late, sweeping all before them, and had nilled three sides in the month of May. They did not manage that here, but another points haul of over 50 will please coach Tony Smith. Centre Matt King got their first try before England prop Adrian Morley put the Wolves further ahead with a second score, with full-back Brett Hodgson converting successfully on each occasion. Crusaders were struggling to get out of their own half and they would have been further behind had Rhys Williams, who spent time on loan with them earlier this season, not stepped in touch as he looked to score. The Welsh outfit got into it then, though, with Elliot Kear going over. Rhys Hanbury shelled the ball as he looked to touch down, but a second Crusaders try was not too far away as forward Hep Cahill spied a gap and stormed through it. Michael Witt`s kick then caused panic and Jarrod Sammut pounced to score, with Clinton Schifcofske`s goal putting the league`s bottom side in front against the odds. But Warrington hit back through Ben Westwood, the forward going in from close range, before Ryan Atkins raced the length of the field unopposed to score. Chris Bridge then linked up with the impressive King and Paul Wood was on hand to finish off their good work, leaving Warrington comfortable 28-16 leaders at the turn. Hodgson crossed the line himself and then went in for a quickfire second as any hopes Crusaders had of mounting a comeback were put to bed. Hodgson then completed his hat-trick - he finished with 28 points on the night after also kicking eight goals - while Wood got his second and Richie Myler scored a deserved try as he made one last push to win a starting spot for England next week
