Juan Cole is Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan. For three decades, he has sought to put the relationship of the West and the Muslim world in historical context. He is the author of the popular and informative Middle East blog "Informed Comment" (www.juancole.com). The following lecture was presented at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) on Monday, December 10, 2007. Although nearly three years old it remains an excellent introduction to the history of the U.S.-Iraq War. Transcript of this lecture is available at: http://www.alternet.org/world/78672/
