Alisha Maier returned home to Louisiana, MO Thursday afternoon amid cheers and applause. On Monday night, police say 4 year old Maier was abducted from her front yard by Paul Smith. Alisa and her parents had been staying at an undisclosed location since she was released from a St. Louis hospital Wednesday morning. They returned home around 1:30 pm. On Thursday morning, the St. Louis County police chief opened a news conference by simply saying, "It's over." Police Chief Timothy Fitch says Paul S. Smith is the person who kidnapped 4-year-old Alisa Maier on Monday from her Louisiana, Missouri home. However, early reports of a relative tips are not what lead police to Smith. Chief Fitch says clothes from a Wal-Mart store helped lead them to the now deceased suspect. Paul Smith is a registered sex offender who shot himself Wednesday afternoon when police came to his Hawk Point home to question him about Alisa's disappearance.
