What is the Mission 22 Project?

Elder Heart is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness around the devastating fact that 22+ United States military veterans commit suicide every day as a result of Post-
Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. Elder Heart does large-scale public works of art to raise awareness for PTSD and the epidemic of veteran suicide. Mission 22 was created to 
raise awareness of this shocking statistic and as a call to action that there is help out there for Mission 22 is a call to action – enlisting everyone to “claim a 22” on buses, street signs, jerseys, 
racecars and anywhere a 22 is found – in order to raise awareness and enlist an army of civilians to show that we support our veterans and want to put an end to this tragic statistic. To participate, just simply post a picture of yourself with the number 22, post a picture of a 22 or any type of acknowledgement that you know what 22 means on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the

Elder Heart is a platform created to facilitate the warrior healing process in partnership with the key element: society. The development of the organization is happening in phases. The first phase is focused on veteran-led community art projects. These projects achieve the following:

• Veterans are able to connect with one another and their society through the process of creating a public work of art for the community.

• The communities have a lasting testament to this interaction and are made aware of the plight most veterans experience in attempting to reintegrate into society.

Elder Heart is an organization created by a group of elite special operations warriors to help veterans heal from PTSD and related conditions. As folks who have suffered themselves, they understand firsthand that many of the current efforts are ineffective: medication helps alleviate symptoms, but does not address the source of the problem; well-meaning associations that 
sponsor events like climbing a mountain or going hunting or fishing can put smiles on people’s faces and create good memories but unfortunately do not help the healing process in a lasting or meaningful way.
