This is a classic example of Tilton road lane control.  In it we can see traffic flows with complete ease.  I believe there is one dick head driver who honks his horn.  No....wait....let me clarify that.  There's one dick head driver who honks his horn.....WHILE EASILY PASSING BY!

Also this rear footage shows that there is no massive cue of cars backed up behind me.  Traffic simply changes lanes.  I migrate my lane position to the far left so that may legally use the middle turning lane that services both directions.  So....what will I be doing different post tactical retreat?

Not much really.  The only difference will be in the first few seconds of travel.  I will adopt lane control one lane over to the right.....even though it ends in only a few hundred feet.  This increases the danger for the cyclist.  How?  Because once you cross Fire road and the painted arrow indicate you to merge left, I will have to fight very late in the merging.  All of traffic will already be in the lane and offering no chance for me to lane merge.  I will be forced to signal and risk that the driver behind me will acknowledge my signal.

The reality is, I don't go that much slower than traffic because we all get stopped at the light.  Cars might be able to take off faster, but more often than not I end up catching them at the next light.  So the over all average of speed on this road is about the same.  After I cross the next light, it will all depends on my destination.  If it's the bike shop then I'll need to merge left again until I can access the middle turning lane.  IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MOTOR TRAFFIC WILL ALSO CAUSE A SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC AS THEY TOO SEEK TO CHANGE LANES!
