In many countries around the world,writers and journalists face persecution for simply expressing their opinions. The international writers association PEN reports that last year alone nearly 20 writers were murdered worldwide and some 200 arrested. In their campaign to promote freedom of expression,the German branch of PEN invited five exiled writers to their annual conference. One of them shared his story with us.
