8 March 2015 KOTA KINABALU: The owner of the stall at Segama night stall had expressed their difficulties toward the new rules enforced by the KK City Hall (DBKK) to YB Christina Liew, Api Api ADUN, during her visitation late afternoon. One of the stall owner who refused to be identified, the new regulation dictate that they only allow to start their business after 5 pm. According to him, such rule will cut down their business time and also profits where in the past they used to start their business about 3.30 pm. This will cause them lost much of business as most of the business are depend to the end of office hours, where patrons and office workers used to go buy at their stall before going back home. All of the stall owner, surprised that DBKK also restrict them from setting up a table which they has been doing for more than 30 years ago. Even after promised to clean up for their waste, DBKK stand firm to their decision and will take away stall owner permits if found anyone violate the new rules in one of their meetings with city hall. The stall owner has no other choices but to express their problem and requesting YB Christina for help, even after being warned not to do so or will take legal action against the stall owner by DBKK. One of the regular customers said the stall offered a cheap option of food as low as RM 3.00 and with the new rules and they need to go other more expensive place to eat. Christina, was surprised with the grievances by the stall owner and questioned how DBKK can issue such threat to the stall owner from asking help from any state representative, especially her whom currently representing Api Api constituency. She hope that DBKK will revert back to the 3.30 pm, let the stall owner to put tables for customers on the walk path first and move toward the parking lot after 5 pm. Christina also propose DBKK to allow the stall owner to use the parking space on 4.30 pm during public holidays as the parking is free during those day. She also hope that DBKK to allow the stall owner to start open at 3.30 pm during the coming puasa months. The Api Api representative then promise to write in to DBKK to get more information and explanation in black and white about the new rule. ***
