Earlie this week, Rajagopal had accused KTR of hurting his reputation and both of them had shared screenshots from their WhatsApp conversation with the media.Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and incumbent IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday expressed confidence about his party’s victory in the Legislative Assembly elections which concluded on Friday and said that they would surpass the estimates of exit polls.
On Friday, ex-Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal had said that the Congress alliance would win around 65 seats and gave the TRS only 35 seats. Responding to the survey while speaking to reporters, KTR said, “Statehood to Telangana had made Mr. Rajagopal quit politics and, after the Telangana election results are out, he will be forced to wind up psephology and other survey exercises.”
Two of the five exit polls conducted by various agencies predicted a win for the TRS in the state. Three others have predicted a hung Assembly situation – however, the numbers are within easy reach of the TRS to form the government in the state.
India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted that TRS may win 79 to 91 seats in the 119-member Assembly while the Congress-led alliance may get 21 to 33 seats. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) may end up with 4-7 seats and the BJP 1-3 seats.
The Times Now-CNX survey predicted that the TRS may win 66 seats and the Congress-led alliance 37.
The survey conducted by Republic-C-Voter claimed that TRS would win 48-60 seats, Congress 47-59, BJP 5 and others 1-13 seats.
Thanking those who came out to cast their vote, KTR also reiterated that the TRS would win over 100 seats in the 119-member Assembly. The Congress had stitched an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) to take on the TRS.
Telangana voted on Friday and the results would be declared on December 11
