There are some who struggle with trust issues due to narcissistic abuse since childhood, which have resulted in trauma. Regardless of some who have been proven trustworthy to those who have been traumatized, it's very hard to knock down the wall of distrust. To some people with childhood trauma, loving healthy relationships trigger an intense danger, which causes some to run away from healthy relationships and from those who do not pose as any real threat.
