4-3-2017 LAFD Engine 44 first on scene on the 3500 block of Tacoma Avenue in L.A.’s Cypress Park - Mt. Washington district reported a fully involved, two story “patio area” behind a two story hillside home with exposures. Access to the well involved structure was difficult due to steep narrow roads leading to the the large patio-shed type structure. An additional Task Force was requested on top of the original assignment. Firefighters knocked down the flames with handlines in approximately 45 minutes. Houses on both sides of the involved structure were evacuated. Firefighters also checked the attic of the exposed house to the south for extension. Damage was extensive, there were no reported injuries, the cause of the pre-dawn blaze is under investigation. - MNR -
