Chinese Navy fleet visits Indonesia

A Chinese navy's fleet is in Jakarta, eyeing to enhance ties between the two navies. The Chinese navy's Fleet 152 on Sunday arrived in Jakarta, starting a five--day visit. Eko Wahyono, Deputy Commander of the Main Naval Base III of Indonesia Navy, is at the welcome ceremony. He said Fleet 152's visit was a great event for Indonesia, as it will promote and strengthen the friendship between the two navies. Wang Jianxun, commander of the Chinese navy fleet, said the visit will further boost the traditional friendship between the two countries and two navies. SOUNDBITE (CHINESE): WANG JIANXUN, Commander, Chinese navy fleet "Chinese and Indonesian navies have maintained a friendly relationship for years. The two navies have conducted substantial cooperation in counter terrorism, fleet visits, and people-to-people exchanges, among others. Fleet 152' s visit will enhance understanding, boost ties and promote friendly cooperation between the two navies." After the ceremony, Fleet 152, composed of a missile--equipped destroyer, a missile--equipped frigate and an integrated supply ship, was open to public.
