Jose Manuel Barroso warns that the financial and economic crises deserve top priority because European citizens "want action and resuts".

 Barroso is expected to have his bid for a second five-year term as president of Europe's top executive body endorsed later tonight, 

He made his comments as he walked into the venue where the two-day EU summit takes place in Brussels.
