Homelands are small remote communities where Indigenous Australians are living on the very land that has nourished their fathers and mothers for thousands of generations. They're demonstrated success stories.

Homelands mean better health and longer life expectancies for residents. Locals are applying traditional knowledge to 'care for country', and tackle climate change through backburning and carbon preservation. Plus they're the source of much of Australia's beautiful indigenous art.

But these community success stories are under threat. The Government wants to move over 600 unique communities into just 20 'growth towns'.
