At the recent White House Forum on Health Care, President Obama and Congressional leaders promised a focus on controlling spiraling health care costs. There is perhaps no more effective means to simultaneously contain costs and improve health outcomes than a rapid diffusion of Information Technology. While electronic medical records gain wide support, less well known is the enormous potential impact of coupling health IT with pervasive broadband connectivity -- from hospital to home to 'mobile body networks.'

Intel Chairman Craig Barrett will keynote our discussion of this emerging field. Mr. Barrett is a global evangelist for the benefits of connecting high-quality care to patients anywhere with ubiquitous broadband connectivity.

Other speakers will describe a wide range of cutting edge applications in telehealth, including: remote monitoring, remote care and self-management of costly chronic conditions; extending specialist care to rural and remote areas, across the U.S. and the developing world; 'aging in place,' reducing institutionalization and hospital admissions; making emergency response care more effective; and the billions in overall cost savings from diffusion of mobile health IT.
