A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of his 18-year-old girlfriend.

Police said the body of Maria Torres-Valle was found at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday inside a car that had been left running on Woodland Avenue near 27th Street.

Jesus Sanchez was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. A neighbor told police that she heard a woman screaming followed by several loud thuds at about 1:30 a.m.
