Shattered Windshields Have Drivers On Edge

Residents are on edge after two drivers in Lawrence suffered shocks overnight.

Police were called shortly after midnight when a woman driving along Connecticut Street said the rear windshield of her pickup truck suddenly shattered.

"I couldn't imagine anything other than a shot that would cause that," said Bonnie Bond, who lives nearby. 

The woman was bleeding from the back of her head and was taken to a hospital. She was treated and released.

Two hours later, another windshield was shattered at an intersection just outside City Hall. A mother and her son were stopped when someone blew out their car window.

Police said they're not sure what exactly caused the vehicle windows to shatter.

There have been other suspicious incidents in Lawrence recently. Earlier this month, someone shot out windows at a dining hall on the University of Kansas campus. In mid-October, someone shot bullets into three windows at a residence hall. Two windows in the dining hall were also shot out then, in addition to some other buildings in Lawrence.
