Siraj Hussain, Senior Fellow at ICRIER says that it is not economically viable for any government to increase MSP of all agricultural products and buy all the food items directly from farmers. He adds that governments give a higher priority to controlling food inflation and hence impose several restrictions that curtail the ability of farmers to make substantial profits from their agricultural produce.
