With a much-needed restock of our health and armour pickups achieved and some comparatively easy enemies, we’re well on our way to recovering from the extremely difficult subway station level, though I’ve no doubt in my mind that this reprieve is a very temporary one. There are still more enemy types that we haven’t met yet and I won’t presume that they’ll be easy to defeat, so playing it safe and being careful in every confrontation is still the aim of the game. That said, we have some keys to find if we’re going to make our way into the silo area so we can fulfil our mission, keys that are much easier to locate with the map.

That the briefings provide you with a map is a great thing, though you’re never shown it for long enough. Being able to consult that map through the main menu somehow would be nice but I understand why they didn’t do it, knowing that it’d detract from the mapping feature they’ve already got. I’ll be doing my best to consult that map whenever I can, though I make no promises that it’ll stop me from getting lost in the levels.
