At the 12th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation announced Hongyan, or Wild Goose, a global Internet constellation of 300 low-orbit small satellites planned to be completed by 2025. Shi Pingyan (director of the Fifth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation): "This is to provide a global solution for our future satellite broadband access and services such as the Internet of Things with our current telecommunication technology". He Mu (application director of the Hongyan project): "Convenient communication will be available to people like sailors at sea or passengers on high-speed trains through our low-orbit satellites. The chip can be integrated into the mobile phone, so that everyone holding an ordinary mobile phone will have access to seamless satellite telecommunication with global coverage".
