Take a train trip from Ione, Washington to Metalline Falls, Washington.  North Pend Orielle valley Lions Club excursion train. Produced in 2000. Begun in July of 1981, the train operated as an excursion train until October  of 2016, a 35 year run.  Forced by the cost of maintaining tracks and bridges, the Port of Pend Oreille (the government entity that owns the tracks) was hit with upcoming, strict Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety and inspection standards, so they closed operations and in May of 2018, began rail bike tours to take its place.
