Solar charging has come down a LOT as the technologies used to produce them have become cheaper and more available. Even in the UK they will produce usable power when the sun is up :)

These are definitely small enough to put in a bag and have on you. Coupled with a power bank it could make for a rather handy power station for your gadgets!
