Lebanon’s war ended in 1991, yet those scars continue to haunt its abandoned buildings. Public art plays a role here to highlight these wounds, to refocus and reshape them, and this is where Jad’s work comes into the picture. Jad El Khoury is an artist, currently living and working in Beirut. He holds a degree in interior architecture from the Lebanese University. His goal is to shed light on social and political issues through public art installations. His latest projects included WAR PEACE, 2015-17 and BURJ EL HAWA 2018. Jad strongly believes that urban art interventions can make the city dream. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
