So far, nobody knows what is the source of those game changing particles randomly observed. Random discoveries are the best a scientist could hope for. Taking a step back, this hope and curiosity of the unknown could also be the driving forces that pushed Soviet Union explorer to launch the SG3 project in 1970. Their goal was to drill earth’s crust as deep as possible to get a better understanding of our home structure and composition. For the third release of Cosmic Wave Records, commands are given to techno artist Vardae for a journey into planet Earth deepest borehole : SG3. Starting from Level 0 (0m) in 1970, the first two tracks of the EP emphasize the hope and curiosity that soviet drillers could feel when they started drilling, using uplifting and peaceful harmonies on pads conducted by subtle rhythms and groovy basses. As the journey goes on into the mists of the deep, Vardae vision takes the listener to darker places, using a nice balance of cycling rhythms and mental atmospheres, with a touch of sparkling acid lines. It is year 1989 when, under extreme conditions (180°C), the drillers reach the deepest place of planet Earth so far : minus 12 262 meters. The four original compositions are packed with two remixes from CWR residents. KLI.M proposes a stripped back and percussive oriented remix of Level 0, Diapason takes the listener to his own deep, remixing 12 262, with dark resonant synth sustained by trippy grooves.
