John Skipp's "hallucination reel" promo for PEEKABOO, his first attempt at writing/directing/producing a feature film (in 1996, during the long "lost" years). The color film was shot at Panavision in Hollywood, using a split diopter lens for the foreground/ background shots, and the special "Mesmerizer" lens for all the twisty psychedelic bits. All shots written by Skipp and designed with cinematographer Christopher Pearson. The black and white footage was shot by Skipp on the Pixel 2000 by Fisher-Price, a toy camera that shot on audio cassettes. Brian Bubonic played the severed head. FX by the legendary KNB. Music by Skipp's last band, the short-lived Damage Control. He co-wrote the song, and sings it. Skipp spent nearly five years trying to make this film. It never happened. But it was his boot camp -- his Film School of Hard Knocks -- and his first attempt to move from author to filmmaker. As such, it's kind of interesting.
