This is episode 48 of my Don-O's Hour of Crap podcast

For those who haven't been paying attention, those crazy cut-ups in Negativland have been making some noise lately….well, outside of three members dying off within the last year and a half.

The group has just released a new album called The Chopping Channel, which is the latest in their Over The Edge Highlights series. There has been a few of these ‘Chopping’ shows over the years serving as umbrella for improvised collaborations with many artists visiting the show and the new album contains fragments of two more recent ones.

The Chopping Channel is also the group’s Firesign Theatre-inspired satire of the 24 hour shopping channels and their practices.

However, for this podcast, we’re chopping up a 2001 ‘Chopping’ show that features the one and only David Wills, a. k. a. The Weatherman! Hear him test out home-made electronic instruments, partake in the ‘Club Soda’ ceremony, stand back as Chopping employees bicker about who has the loudest levels and some edited rounds of noisy racket in between.

This also would be one of the last physical OTE appearances by The Weatherman before his move to the outskirts of Seattle, WA in late 2002.

For an unchopped version of this fine show, swing on over to the OTE section of the Internet Archive:
