I noticed the melting colors inconsistently happening in Ninja Gaiden, but it seems to affect all games. Watch the white boxes when the gameplay screen appears in Dr. Mario. It doesn't happen every single time, but it happens most times.

I believe this effect is intentional. It is probably meant to reduce flickering that might trigger an epileptic seizure. The effect probably adds to the latency ("lag") too. I'm playing in "pixel perfect" mode because I wanted to minimize image processing, but this can't be disabled.

Old Sony 52" XBR. One of the earlier 1080p sets. Game Mode is enabled for this HDMI input. The same TV works great with real NES via composite input and also a real NES with the Hi-Def NES HDMI modification.
