Pokemon Emerald Walkthrough Part #02: Front to Back

In this episode we go looking for May and have her "give us a taste of what being a trainer is like". Afterwards, we finally get some balls. I'll try something new and cover which Pokemon you can find in the routes and my personal opinion on them:

Route 101 (From Littleroot to Oldale)
-Poochyena: A good Dark type (and one of the fews). He'll get very good Attack growths and even though he may lack special Attack, he can learn a wide variety of powerful moves. Once he evovles, his growths become much better. Evolves to Mightyena at Lv. 18
-Zigzagoon: A good Pickuper for the first part of the game. You can also use him on your team but its growths are kinda lame. He can be useful to help train other Pokemon and his ability Pikcup can net you different items as you travel. Definitely good to have him around. Evolves to Linoone at Lv. 20.
- Wurmple: A decent bug type, he has two evolution routes: Cascoon to Dustox and Silcoon to Beautifly (Lv. 7 and 10 respectively). They both are GREAT choices for the early game, since they're evolved Pokemons and thus get way better stats than your foes.

Route 103 (North from Oldale):
- Zigzagoon
- Poochyena
- Wingull (Rare): Wingull is a fairly OK Water type, which is also part flying, thus giving him advantage over many foes. He also comes with Water Gun as his first move, which may help you a lot in the battles to come. However, his stats aren't worth it and they're also very fragile. Once they evolve, though, they might get way better. Evolves to Pelipper at Lv. 25.
