When you're trying to locate bass over a wide area that are just below the surface a Rapala rattling rap can work very well because it makes a lot of noise and vibrations and can literally be ripped through weeds. Plastic soft baits that look like a minnows have also become very popular in the last decade when fishing clear shallow water. These lures are ideal because the sink very slow and they look like a tantalizing crippled minnow action.
