In the aftermath of the offer by the Prime Minister to the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) to purchase the Petrotrin Refinery, President of the Trinidad United Farmers Association says this country is not being led along the path of truth. He says this is the reason for a “Day of Rest and Reflection” on Friday. Mr. Khan says the unions' action will be building over time to highlight their annoyance with the Government. And in a response to statements by the Minister of Public Administration, Marlene McDonald, on JTUM’s call for public servants to stay home and “rest and reflect” on Friday, Vice President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association, Kyrla Robertson-Thomas said there is no way employers can verify why teachers stayed home. Ms. Robertson-Thomas spoke to TTT news via telephone in response to the Minister's comments that people who stay home on Friday could be jailed.
